These heraldic sculptures were made for Lord Thomas Dacre, and were displayed in the Hall at Naworth Castle. The animals stand over 6 ft tall (over 11ft with the banners), and were carved from a single large oak. Following a fire at the castle in the mid 19th century, the sculptures were repainted and the present staves and banners added.
